Fraud on the Shady Loan app: where to file a complaint?

HYDERABAD: CP Shri Sajjanar of Cyberabad Police has asked everyone not to download any instant loan apps from play store. Following the ‘Instant Loan’ apps scam, police investigated the matter and received numerous complaints over the past few weeks.

Cyberabad Police raided many offices related to loan applications. They have also banned many instant loan apps. While warning the public about these fraudulent apps, the police regularly add the names of these apps to their “Do Not Download” list.

Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar has appealed to the public not to trust any apps or sources of lending that have permission from Reserve Bank of India (RBI) or proper license from government authorities. He further advised that a person should always read the terms and conditions carefully and check the authorities of the companies before accepting any loans.

He strictly warned the public not to provide personal details such as banking credentials, phone contacts, personal files and other important information to these apps because all of these can be used to harass and blackmail the victim.

Anyone caught in such a situation can report it to the police or relevant law enforcement agencies. They can also use RBI’s Sachet portal and file a complaint online. A person can always access the RBI website and check the details regarding the names and addresses of registered NBFCs.

The commissioner ended by asking people to submit their complaints. Contact Cyberabad Police immediately or go to the nearest police station. Call the police, register the matter with them and do not resort to any extreme measures.
